Hi, I’m Gilles Leblanc — founder of WhiteSands Trading & Mentoring, lifelong teacher, and now full-time investing/trading mentor.

For over 30 years, I taught mathematics, business, and computer science at the high school and university levels. Throughout my career, I noticed a glaring gap:
The education system in North America (and beyond) does not prepare students to understand the basics of money — let alone the complexities of investing or trading.
​
Despite these subjects being missing from the formal curriculum, I made it my mission to weave them into my teaching wherever I could.
I was one of the few educators who believed students needed to learn how the financial system worked — not just how to pass a test.
​
That same passion now fuels my work as a mentor.
If you teach someone how to think clearly, they can succeed at anything — including building wealth through investing and trading.
Why I Made the Shift
I’ve always been fascinated by the markets. I started investing young and built a solid foundation over time — through discipline, research, and consistency.
As my teaching career came to a close, I realized I had the chance to do something special:
To combine my love for education with my 25+ years of market experience…
…and teach others how to invest and trade with purpose, not just chase profits.
I didn’t want to retire — I wanted to reinvent what it means to be a teacher.
That’s how WSTM was born.

I’m a proud father of two daughters and have been married for over 15 years. I’m a family man first — and always will be.
​
When I’m not mentoring or trading, I’m often exploring new places (Australia was a recent favourite), riding my motorcycle down winding roads, scuba diving when I can, or flying the skies — I’ve held a private pilot’s license for over 30 years.
​
These experiences keep me grounded, focused, and grateful. And they remind me that freedom is the real goal of trading — not just financial, but time freedom, too.
